How SOCCER FANTASTICO! Came to Be
The Institute for Board Games was founded in 2025 with the aim of producing original and entertaining board games. It grew out of a love for board games as a hobby and a leisure-time pastime.
Among the 25 new board games created at the Institute, *Soccer Fantastico!* was born—a board game inspired by football.
*SOCCER FANTASTICO!* originated from a simple idea: how to bring the excitement of a real football match to the tabletop and turn it into a game that different generations can play together.
Football is full of unpredictable moments, tactics, tension, brilliant moves, missed chances, and sudden turnarounds. That very feeling was the starting point for creating a game where every move can change the course of the match, yet without complicated rules that would force players to spend half their time reading instructions.
That is why *SOCCER FANTASTICO!* was developed with three levels of play. Beginners can quickly learn the basic rules and start playing immediately, while more experienced players gradually gain access to more options, cards, and tactical decisions.
At the first level of this football simulation board game, players simply learn the skill of directing the ball. This is the simplest level of the game—designed for children—free from excessive complexity or deep strategy. The second level introduces players with greater range and ball control, long clearances across the halfway line, counter-attacks, and various tricks that make board games exciting.
The third level adds corner kicks, penalties, and various events involving crosses into the penalty area.
The idea was to create a game that could be enjoyed by children, parents, friends, and grandparents alike, as well as by true football fanatics. This football board game is designed to capture the feeling of playing football, even when the weather outside makes an actual match impossible.
It is a game where winning isn’t the only thing that matters; it’s about cheering together, laughing, surprising your opponent with a clever move, and experiencing that familiar tension as the ball approaches the goal.
And so, SOCCER FANTASTICO! was born—a football-inspired board game created above all for socializing, fun, and those special moments that make you want to play another match the instant the current one ends.
